Head of School's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale's School of Science and Mathematics.

For over 50 years students have studied towards accredited science degrees at Avondale, initially the external BSc through London University, and then an increasing range of state-recognised institutional science degrees. Currently we offer a BSc and related combined degrees, with "major" areas of study in Biology, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Geography, Information Technology, Mathematics, and Physics. In addition to these areas the accompanying "minor" may be taken in the area of Biological Chemistry. Some additional science subjects and even a two-degree program in the area of Medical Science are enabled by our articulation arrangements with nearby Newcastle University and also with Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga.

Our well-credentialed academic staff provide quality science within a sound Christian worldview. Our classes are small, allowing close student-lecturer interaction, and supporting our high emphasis on quality classroom delivery and the holistic development of our students.

Courses Offered

The Bachelor of Science offers a number of majors and double degree options. Majors include bio-medical biology, environmental biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and information technology. In a double degree, the Bachelor or Science is coupled with Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Medical Science in conjunction with Charles Sturt University.
