In response to many requests, endorsed Professional Development short courses are now offered by Avondale in:

Testimonials

I attended the workshop for Writing with Bev Christian. I found the presentation to be inspiring and very practical. The ideas suggested and examples shown were simple yet effective. I have used the techniques with students in my literacy classes over the past two terms and have been pleased with the response from my students. The presentation encouraged teachers to seek out new and interesting ways to teach writing. Bev also reminded teachers of the strong correlation between teaching writing and reading. I always make sure to attend Bev's workshops, she is a wonderful mentor!
Kristy, Upper Primary

I went to Barbara Fisher's inservice on Grammar. I found the Grammar inservice outstanding, in the way it was presented and the amount of useful and usable resources we were given to take away with us. It didn't feel like 2 hours as Barbara presented the information in an interactive manner - using slideshow presentation and stopping throughout the presentation to show and play various games with us. Throughout my teaching career, I have always taught from a grammar book and at this inservice, Barbara reminded me that Grammar is fun and it's all about the way you present it to your class. I am looking forward to teaching grammar - using these games and helping the children grasp the concepts in a fun and interesting manner.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Outdoor Recreation short courses available through Avondale College. They are well coordinated, timely, well resourced and relevant to the program we offer our year nine students at Gilson College. These qualifications have provided us with the necessary skills and certification to run the expeditionary learning component of the Learning 4 Life program at Gilson College. More than this, the course I have completed has opened the door for in the implementation of Outdoor Education principles into the operation of the groups involved in the experiential education program we offer.
Tony, Secondary

Having been the recipient of a number of the short courses offered by Avondale - specifically the bushwalking components - I must say that this has been pivotal in ensuring that I and my staff have been able to secure the necessary training and qualifications allowing us to deliver our outdoor / experiential education program.
