Internships Clinicals and Professional Experience

Avondale is highly regarded for its graduates who are workplace ready and for the high level of practical experience provided to students throughout their course. The aim of these programs is to provide students with valuable work experience, and an opportunity to build networks that can lead to employment in the future. Avondale assists students, where possible, to secure an appropriate placement.

Associate Degree in Theological Studies Student assigned to work with a local pastor and church each year. This represents 80 hours plus attendance at most weekend worship services during the two year course
Experience requirements within Church Ministry core units
Bachelor of Arts (with a major in Communication) Professional internship of two weeks in second year, four weeks in third year
Bachelor of Arts (with a major in International Poverty and Development Studies) Three weeks required in a developing country in 2nd year
Optional four weeks in a donor office in 3rd year
Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching 17 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Business (Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Management) Opportunity for all students to gain academic credit for internships
Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Teaching 17 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Education (Secondary) 17 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) 27 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Education (Primary) 20 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Nursing 1040 hours over three years
(40 hours can be part of a community or service project)
Bachelor of Science Within unit: WESC38000 Work Experience in the Sciences
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching 17 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Teaching (Primary or Secondary) 14 weeks of supervised classroom experience
Bachelor of Theology Student assigned to work with a local pastor and church each year

Bachelor of Ministry and Theology Student assigned to work with a local pastor and church each year. This represents 160 hours plus attendance at most weekend worship services with a four year course

Graduate Diploma of Ministry and Theology Student assigned to work with a local pastor and church each year. This represents 80 hours plus attendance at most weekend worship services during the two year course

Diploma of Outdoor Recreation Participate in a minimum of 15 days (three weeks fulltime) industry placement by the completion of the course
Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation Participate in a minimum of 10 days (two weeks fulltime) industry placement by the completion of the course
