The Master of Leadership and Management (MLM) course focuses on providing advanced training in management theory and practice, emphasising the ethical, moral and spiritual dimensions of leadership and management.
The challenge of leadership and management in various types of organisations has become more demanding and complex. Adapting to rapidly changing business environments calls for a more sophisticated set of skills and abilities from leaders and managers. Church-related, not-for-profit organisations and other organisations require effective leadership informed by the social sciences and a developing body of knowledge concerning management, leadership and organisations.
Leadership & Management graduates leave with the skills for potential employment in the following areas:
- Finance Manager
- Hospital Administrator
- Advertising Manager
- Human Resources Manager
- Sales Manager
- Work Health & Safety Manager
- Chief Information Officer
- Director of Operations
- Church management
A Bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent or satisfactory completion of the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in or Graduate Diploma of Leadership and Management plus at least two years’ employment experience in an appropriate leadership or management role.
At least two years of employment experience in a leadership and management role.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Course duration: Three years part time ( the course is not offered full time).
Study mode: Distance education with on-campus mid-year residential required for some units
Maximum time to complete: 5 years
This is a twelve-unit study program offered in two patterns. Pattern 1 consists of course work and an independent project and Pattern 2 consists of course work and a major research project.
All units are worth 6 credit points (unless otherwise specified).
The following units are required for both Patterns 1 & 2:
- LAMC50600 The Theology, Theory and Practice of Leadership
- LAMC50000 Introduction to Research
Group A Units - For Patterns 1 & 2 four units must be completed from the list below.
- LAMC51100 Leadership and Organisation
- LAMC51200 Communication for Leaders
- LAMC51600 Organisational Processes and Change
- LAMC51400 Human Resource Management
- LAMC52400 Managerial and Professional Ethics
Group B Units (Pattern 1 Must complete 2 units, Pattern 2 Must complete 1 unit)
- LAMC52100 Marketing Management
- LAMC52200 Information Systems for Leaders
- LAMC52300 Strategic Planning for Leadership
- LAMC52500 Legal Issues in Leaders
- LAMC52600 Accounting for Leaders
Pattern 1 must also complete a research project from the list below:
Choice between a 1 unit or a 2 unit research project
- LAMR59200 Independent Research Project (1 unit)
- LAMR59300 Extended Independent Research Project (2 unit)
Pattern 2 must also complete the following major research project
- LAMR59400 Major Research Project (A 3 unit project)
Electives may be drawn from the Group A units, Group B units, or other disciplines (on approval from the Course Convenor).
