Community Service Award
Purpose
The Avondale College Alumni Association Community Service Award is to:
• Acknowledge the contribution of students to a community through voluntary service
• Encourage more students to serve in a community
• Promote service as part of a holistic Christian tertiary education
Criteria
The Avondale College Alumni Association Community Service Award is worth $1000 in cash (equally shared if more than one recipient) to students who have given outstanding voluntary service to a community while enrolled at Avondale College.
Administration
The Avondale College Alumni Association will present the Community Services Award to one or more students at Avondale College.
The Avondale College chaplains, development studies lecturer, director of student services and Seventh-day Adventist Church senior minister will each nominate at least one and no more than three students.
Each nomination should include a brief report on the contribution of the student to a community through voluntary service.
Nominations close on the last Friday in September.
The Avondale College Alumni Association will consider the nominees, in consultation with the chaplains, development studies lecturer, director of student services and Seventh-day Adventist Church senior minister.
The Avondale College Alumni Association will present the award at the academic awards forum on the Lake Macquarie campus in November each year.
