Callista
WHAT IS PROJECT CONNECT?
Connect is the project that will implement a new student management system and revolutionise the way you interact with Avondale College?s administrative core. From application, to admitance and, finally, to completion of your study, student and course organisation will be much more efficient, flexible, monitored, customer service orientated and, above all, designed to turn Avondale into a more collaborative community.
Not only will the new system, known as Callista, provide better management of course structures and student progression, it will also enable you to enrol or re-enrol online, update your academic information at your own convenience and maintain your addresses and exam locations. You will complete government statistics and HECS Payment Option forms online while becoming more engaged in your own academic decisions. You will also be able to keep track of fees, view assessment results and results history.
STAFF SNAPSHOT
Rose Howson, project manager of Connect, began implementing the new system in November 2006 after leading the search for what Avondale needed to stay up-to-date in the business world. ?My job is to work out what we want, why we want it, to deliver it on time and stir the team into action,? she says. Callista will go live in October, the last of seven stages of implementation. ?It is specifically focused on higher education. It directly complies with the government as well as core business requirements.? Rose works with Callista representatives as well as her own team to ensure the deployment of Connect will be as effective and smooth as possible.
USEFUL HINT
In time, Connect will virtually eliminate registration, taking the whole process online.
