PROJECT CONNECT: AN UPDATE

Project Connect has processed through a number of stages, from initiation in January 2007, through design, to analysis, all aimed at a smooth transition into the new system. The project is about to complete the build stage. This is the customisation of the new system to meet Avondale's requirements, including moving data from the existing system. Information from advanced standing to graduation has been analysed, cleansed and transferred, and soon, managing your academic program will become easier than ever.

STAFF SNAPSHOT

Paul Lewis is the business analyst for the Academic Office. His role on the project is as business process team leader. He ensures the new student management system meets all of our needs. He has been preparing user guides, training materials and plans for testing various parts of the system over the past year.

"I have explored most of the Callista system in detail and written test cases that confirm the system is going to satisfy our business requirements," he says. "This is by far the busiest time of the project for me, but it is also the most exciting, as this 'thing' we've all been working hard at comes alive."

This is also the time of the project when everything starts to take shape. "The system now has our look and feel with web pages that have our own logo and colour scheme," says Paul. "Once it is up, I will manage the system and provide business level support for its users."
