Avenue of trees to grace entrance

07 November 2007

An avenue of trees will soon grace the entrance to Avondale College's Lake Macquarie campus.

A design by architect and Landscaping Committee member David Stafford will see the white fence between the houses and the gatebox replaced by a star picket fence. The new fence will be about 10 metres back from the current tree line. Campus supervisor Bruce Cantrill will level the ground between what will soon be a newly surfaced road and the fence and plant grass. He will begin planting the trees by next winter or earlier. "You'll veer left at the top of the hill and just go, 'Wow!'"

Bruce has also removed the fence than runs between ASFA Park and Sandy Creek. He will use fill from the building of the new Avondale Retirement Village to level the ground before planting grass.
