Senior education lecturer Dr Cedric Greive has presented two papers at the Fifth International Conference of Science and Technology Education in Perth. His papers were entitled, "An example of the use of surprise as a vehicle for learning," and "Air-flow phenomena and Bernoulli's equation." Cedric presented the first paper with senior chemistry lecturer Dr Kevin de Berg. Cedric also spent two days as a visiting scholar in the Science and Mathematics Education Centre at Curtin University of Technology.

AVONDALE'S AUQA AUDITOR
Vice-president (administration and research) Dr Vivienne Watts has accepted an appointed as an auditor for the Australian Universities Quality Agency.

FOUNDATION FUNDING FOR STAFF MEMBERS
Staff members successfully applying for funding from the Avondale Foundation, which has again granted $55,000 for research, include: Drs Cedric Greive, Rob McIver, Jason Morton, Daniel Reynaud, Ray Roennfeldt and Graham Stacey.
