PBs for marathoning musicians

28 May 2008

Father and son David and Matthew Clark both ran personal bests in the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon on May 18.

David is a sessional lecturer and former head of the Music Department, and Matthew an information technology specialist who plays violin in the Avondale Chamber Orchestra. David, who ran in the category for those aged 60 and over, took 10 minutes off his most recent half marathon to finish in two hours and four minutes. Matthew took five minutes off to finish in one hour and 31 minutes, which placed him in the top 500 out of more than 6000 participants. Another son, Gavin, a former cellist with the orchestra, runs the full marathon of 42 kilometres.

?We love the buzz from doing stuff together and want to inspire others to keep fit and healthy,? says David.
