Newsletter merger keeps campus better informed

08 August 2008

You will have more opportunities to read Connections after the merging of the Avondale College newsletter with that of the Avondale College Seventh-day Adventist Church. The merger, which came into effect this past Monday (August 4), will see public relations officer Brenton Stacey and senior minister Dr Bruce Manners editing three editions of Connections each week.

"Bruce and I communicate to a similar audience, and we were already working closely to produce our own newsletters, so the merger has proved a natural progression," says Brenton.

Staff members, students and more than 200 of those attending the church will receive the first edition of Connections by email on Mondays. This edition is the same as Bruce's email devotional Mid-week Connect, but with a change in name and publication day.

Staff members and students will receive the second edition in hardcopy on Wednesdays. This edition is the same as Connections, but with a sharper focus on news about the college and its staff members and students.

Staff members and those attending the church will receive the third edition in hardcopy on Fridays and on Saturdays. This edition is similar to College Church Connect in content, but with a sharper focus on news about the church and its members and with changes to format. Those attending the church will also receive the second edition of Connections to keep them up-to-date with news from the college.

"The new way of doing Connections will help keep our congregation and our campus in touch with each other," says Bruce. "I'm particularly keen that those in the congregation who are not a part of the campus get to know it better."

News from all three editions will continue to appear on the church and the college websites, usually a day before publication.
