Pastor Buell Fogg is not the first United States-based speaker Avondale College has invited to its Lake Macquarie campus for Festival of Faith, but he may be the first to describe himself as God's roadie. "It's not about me," he says. "This is all about Him."

After just a few moments with Buell, it is easy to see he loves being here and is eager to meet new people and form new friendships. He continues to bring a unique perspective on God, life and his own place in this world.

Buell is the assistant to the president at Union College (Lincoln, Nebraska, USA), and he loves his job--he has worked at Union for 19 years. "I'm all about Christian education," says Buell, a promoter and recruiter at Union. But, "I like to think of God as the One I'm really doing this for. When I travel, it's like being on tour with Him. Watching what He does is nothing less than phenomenal."

Buell also considers being the celebrant at weddings "the ice cream and fudge on top of a cake. . . . That is a highlight in my ministry. When I can stand on the alter with two kids who are pledging their lives to each other, I really believe in that kind of thing."

He also believes passionately that God moves in the world of humans just as much as He does in the world of nature. Hence, the Festival of Faith theme, "Impacted by His Reality." "The breakdown of this is that each meeting shows pictures or minuets of a God revealed not only in the natural world but in the human world as well," says Buell. "I believe God uses individuals to show Himself. And He has given us this challenge and this opportunity as Christians to live His love through us. We see Him in the most unusual places, in the most unusual ways, and the most unusual circumstances."

Buell's message is clear: God is the centre of attention on this tour. It is a refreshing reminder in an all-glitz and entertainment world to be on the watch for an unusual God doing unusual things.
