COUCH POTATOES BECOME GAMING EXPERTS
With new residential assistants and semi-holidaying deans, "Tattler" thought it would be interesting to see what kind of trouble residential students on Avondale College's Lake Macquarie campus could cause over the mid-semester break. Well, most of the students staying on campus over the holidays are international students or students from the extremities of Australia, and they're pretty well behaved. Theology student Andre' Hamilton has spent almost every holiday in men's residence Watson Hall since 2003, the year he first studied at Avondale. He has become a video gaming expert and says any student with a PlayStation or Xbox console becomes incredibly popular. Recorded television shows also become popular, with some students watching full seasons of the shows in one day. "Tattler" suggested to some students that life in the residences over the holidays seemed fun. They agreed but added they count down the days until the rest of the students return.
BEWARE! THE LURE OF THE SHOPPING MALL
It's eerie. Every Thursday, as darkness falls across Avondale College's Lake Macquarie campus, students mystically vanish. "Tattler" hears stories of students transfixed by the blinding lights of Westfield Tuggerah. The exodus by bus, car and train leaves the campus looking and feeling like a ghost town. So, we decide to investigate and, wait, whoa, our head is spinning . . . the clothes, food . . . loosing consciousness . . . no, the cinema! [Pause] [Monotone voice] Tuggerah is good. "Tattler" must go to Tuggerah. Must go.
