I do, I do: Big weekend for nursing student

18 March 2009

Alena Turnham has had quite a weekend. It began with her baptism on Saturday (March 14) and ended with her wedding on Sunday.

The third-year nursing student joined sister Kim, a first year on the Sydney campus, in the surf at Catherine Hill Bay to make public their commitment to Jesus. Thunderstorms eased as future father-in-law Pastor Mark Goldsmith, who travelled from Western Australia, baptised the siblings in front of 40 family members and friends. Mark's sons Marlon and Marvin, who are also third-year students, led the group in praise and worship.

Marlon joined Alena as the centre of attention the following day, exchanging vows during a ceremony conducted by Mark in the Wahroonga Seventh-day Adventist Church.
