Two Avondale College students declared their commitment to Jesus and their membership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during 7.28 this past Friday (May 8).

Ebonee Deen, a Bachelor of Education (primary) student, stood in front of the congregation in Avondale College Seventh-day Church to profess her faith-she has been baptised as a member of another denomination. Sophie Lassila, a Bachelor of Science student, entered the font to be baptised. Both have been studying the Bible with chaplain Dr Wayne French.

Ebonee suffered a serious accident aged only eight-she fell off her horse, which then dragged her 80 metres. She was in a coma for two weeks and, when she came out of it, her doctors told her she would probably never walk again. "I see God has led and carried me throughout my life," says Ebonee. "I want to be where God wants me to be and this is it."

Sophie grew up as an Adventist in Newcastle. "I had been thinking about baptism for ages, but when my friend, Tyson, died last year it made me realise just how fragile life is and that I wanted to make God the central part of my life."
