A member of the Connections editorial team is in the running for "Best original photograph" in this year's Australasian Religious Press Association (ARPA) Awards.

Assistant editor Ann Stafford's photographed a student standing with hands on hips outside a mock refuge camp on the Lake Macquarie campus to illustrate an article about Avondale College's first Make a Difference Week.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific's weekly newsmagazine Record published the photograph as its cover on November 15 this past year. It nominated Ann for the award. "I'm stoked," says Ann of the nomination.

Editor Nathan Brown says the nomination "is an acknowledgement that we see Ann's contribution as one of our best of the year."

ARPA will announce the winners of the awards at its conference in September.
