Caption: Avondale College's bi-annual Hall to Gate Run became an annual fun run (and walk) this year. The new name and location-a one-kilometre circuit with the start and finish outside the cafeteria on the Lake Macquarie campus-seemed to encouraged more participation from staff members and students, with a number even dressing up for the run. Continuing the fun theme, students received random spot prizes as they crossed the line. Jody Eckert and Chris Starrett finished behind Dr Darren Morton, a senior lecturer in health and exercise science in the Faculty of Education, as the first students in the five-kilometre category of the run.
