The boisterous enthusiasm of the "Watson Hall spirit" returned during worship services led by the Avondale College men's residence this past weekend.
The Watson Hall choir opened 7.28 with a compelling a cappella rendition of "How Great is our God." Head residence assistant Levi Gardner and residence assistant Chris Starrett then spoke about how God "transcends all barriers and limits." The focus: following Christ's example and reaching out to everyday people with God-given confidence.
The "Wild at Heart" theme of the Friday evening and the Saturday morning services conveyed "a spirit of unity and brotherhood," says Levi.
Pastors Mark McNeill and Shane Roberts, the director and assistant director of men's residence, attribute the rejuvenation of this spirit to greater freedom of choice-a policy compelling students to attend worship services changed at the beginning of the academic year-and the support of the residence assistants. "RAs have a vital part to play in the bringing together and the focus of the services," says Mark.
