The re-launch of Avondale College's websites this past Wednesday (September 30) will make it easier for new students to find information about courses, say those responsible for the makeover.
The www.avondale.edu.au site has what director of advancement Lorin Bradford calls a friendlier look that addresses an issue with clutter. It also reflects the new look of the www.findyourinspiration.tv portal, which in turn integrates more closely with the site.
The www.findyourinspiration.tv portal will, according to Lorin, engage new students and challenge them to take a journey at Avondale. That journey has three stages: a challenge to find inspiration; information about how Avondale can help meet that challenge; and testimonies of current and former students who found their inspiration at Avondale. The portal features holograms of staff members who give a personal face to each of the faculties and who highlight what each has to offer. "It is more likely new students will interact with the portal instead of just reading information off it," says marketing officer Colin Chuang.
The www.avondale.edu.au site features the six faculties in its left-hand column. When a user selects one of the faculties, a mini-portal appears under one of the Find Your Inspiration video clips.
Information Technology and Marketing Services included feedback from staff members and students in the design brief for the sites. "We know the best way to attract new students is to listen to our existing students," says Lorin. "I'd like to thank all those who contributed."
