Caption: Avondale College music students have overwhelmingly endorsed a new weekly newsletter edited by one of their classmates. Lyndelle Lawrence, a graduating Bachelor of Arts (communication) student, produced six edition of Notes for his Independent Topic class. He worked with senior lecturer in music Dr Robb Dennis to develop his idea but then designed, edited and wrote for the newsletter himself. Lyndelle distributed Notes in hard copy and in soft copy as a PDF file via email. His aim: to build community. And it seems Notes did, according to preliminary results of a survey distributed with the last edition of the newsletter. All but two respondents agreed or strongly agreed the newsletter had been useful, kept them better informed, helped them feel connected, helped build a sense of community and had been a pleasure to read.
