CE215 :: INTEGRATED & EMERGENT CURRIC. - NUMERACY & TECHNOLOGY



Description


This subject explores the pedagogical approaches to developing early mathematical and technological experiences and understandings for young children in early childhood environments. Students will explore numeracy including the use of numbers and other mathematical concepts aimed at assisting children to develop skills in analysing and solving problems. Technology will be viewed as a tool a medium for providing possibilities and opportunities for children to make meaning and engage in relationships.

Teaching strategies and provisions will be explored developed and critiqued in relation to curriculum framework recommendations. Theories of learning and intelligence will be considered in planning teaching learning and assessment practices. The impact of developmental stages (0–2 and 3–5 year olds) on learning in this subject will be emphasised and applied during in-semester teaching and observations.
