ED260 :: THEORIES OF DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING
Description
This subject is divided into two modules
- Patterns of Development and Theories of Learning.
- Module 1—Patterns of Development
- This subject presents the physical cognitive social spiritual and personality changes experienced as a result of development from birth to early adulthood. Emphasis is placed on those elements of development that relate to the school years.
- Module 2—Theories of Learning
This subject introduces those aspects of cognitive theory that have direct relevance for classroom practice. Topics include the nature of memory and recall affect and motivation attention and perception concept formation schema theory and the nature of ‘understanding. In addition the subject examines behaviourism and the implications that cognitive theory has for reading problem solving communication and classroom instruction.
