Description


This subject gives a comprehensive introduction to the profession of teaching English to speakers of other languages. The content represents a balance between providing background information and relevant research on the one hand and offering classroom suggestions and resources for teachers on the other. This subject incorporates knowledge of past and present teaching approaches background on and techniques for teaching the language skills various options for integrating the skills theories of second language acquisition and awareness of important learner variables. The aim is to provide the preservice teacher with a sound basis from which they can operate in order to design and implement appropriate classroom approaches and techniques.
