Bachelor of Education (Primary) Upgrade
The various states of Australia are introducing professional bodies (e.g., the Institute of Teachers in NSW) and these bodies now require that all teachers hold a degree to be able to continue teaching. Those with a Diploma of Teaching (or the equivalent) have been given a set amount of time (7 years in NSW) to upgrade their qualification(s). Avondale is now offering a one year full-time (or equivalent part-time) upgrade program in external mode.
Admission requirements
At least a three-year pre-service teaching qualification. The program requires eight subjects giving a total of 48 credit points.
Applicants will need to submit documentary evidence of their previous academic qualifications (testamur and academic transcript). Students who hold the requisite three-year pre-service qualification apply for advanced standing in the Bachelor of Education (Primary).
Credit Transfer
Students who have successfully completed relevant tertiary subjects within the past 10 years in addition to their initial three-year, pre-service qualification, may apply for credit transfer in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) by completing the Advanced Standing/Credit Transfer Form and attaching as evidence, the academic transcript from the tertiary institution in which they studied.
