Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) (Honours)
The honours option allows selected students to complete a program in research methodology and conduct their own research under supervision. Furthermore, this program enhances the efforts of high potential students to influence professional practice through research and facilitates access for students to proceed to research-based studies at Masters or Doctoral level.
The honours option in the BTch (Primary) comprises 120 credit points typically spread over five semesters of full-time (or equivalent part-time) study.
Special admission requirements for the honours program
An average mark of 75% or greater in the subjects of the undergraduate degree. There is no second semester intake for this subject.
Course structure
The Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) (Honours) program includes the following four research subjects in addition to the subjects in the regular Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) program:
To accommodate the extra honours subjects, the regular BTch (Primary) program is modified to include a fifth semester as shown in the Structure below. Regular subjects which have been replaced by honours subjects in semesters one, two and three, have been transferred to semester five.
