Bachelor of Science :: Bachelor of Teaching


The Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching combines professional studies in education with studies in appropriate Bachelor of Science disciplines that will equip graduates for secondary teaching. Secondary education degrees are designed to prepare graduates for careers in secondary teaching. Graduates are qualified to teach in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Christian school system both in Australia and overseas, as well as in the wider educational sector of government and non-government schools.

English Language Proficiency Requirement for Teachers in NSW
International students require an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of at least 8.0 for speaking and listening prior to being employed as graduate teachers in New South Wales.

Entry Requirements


General Admission Requirements apply to the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching course.
In addition, the following requirements apply to the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching course:

Biological Science


  1. A HSC Science unit or equivalent and Chemistry Bridging Course, or
  2. Recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics
  3. HSC Biology or equivalent is recommended.


Chemistry


  1. HSC Chemistry or equivalent, or recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics, and
  2. HSC Mathematics or equivalent, or recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics.


Food and Nutrition


  1. A HSC Science unit or equivalent and Chemistry Bridging Course, or
  2. Recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics, or
  3. HSC Biology or equivalent is recommended.


Mathematics


Recent HSC Mathematics Extension 1 or equivalent, or recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics.

Physics


  1. HSC Physics or equivalent, or recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics, and
  2. HSC Mathematics Extension 1, or equivalent, or recommendation of the School of Science and Mathematics.
