Types Of Training
Private Pilot Licence
This course provides nationally recognised competency based training qualifications at standards set by industry and provides training and skills required for the issue of an Australian Private Pilot Licence (Aeroplane). The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) enables students to fly anywhere in Australia and to share the cost of this with friends carried after completing a minimum of 40 hours of flying training. On the way to completing the PPL, passengers may be carried within the training area after a minimum of 20 hours flying with the endorsement of the Chief Flying Instructor (called the General Flying Progress Test (or GFPT))
Duration
Approximately 5 months full-time.
Commercial Pilot Licence
The Commercial Pilot Licence provides entry-level qualifications and skills allowing entry to the workforce as a commercial pilot. The Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) enables the student to fly professionally anywhere in Australia. It is a pre-requisite for specialising in charter operations, low density regular public transport, corporate flying, flight instruction, and crop dusting.
Although this is the minimum qualification required for employment as a pilot, it is much more useful when combined with a multi-engine Command Instrument Rating or a Flight Instructor Rating
Duration
Approximately ten to twelve months full time, depending on specific qualifications selected.
Entry Requirements
The ideal minimum entry requirement for the CPL is satisfactory completion of Year 10; however, completion of Year 12 is advised.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have completed any CASA Pilot Licences can commence training without having to repeat completed qualifications. Advanced standing will be given for CASA exams completed, and the Chief Flying Instructor will usually require a flight evaluation to establish current flying competence.
Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Course
The Air Transport Pilot Licence course provides graduates with enhanced qualifications and skills that facilitate employment in an airline environment.
The course includes highly valued subjects including Crew Resource Management, Multi-crew Training, Hazardous Goods Awareness, First Aid, and Ethics and Lifestyle issues.
Completion of this course puts the student in a very competitive position to enter the aviation industry. The course includes the Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory exams which enables the student to achieve the highest available standards, and allows the student to confidently seek employment in general aviation or with an airline.
Duration
Approximately twelve months full-time.
Entry Requirements
Applicants for the Air Transport Pilot Licence Course must meet the following requirements:

- Have completed Mathematics and a Science (Physics or Chemistry) at Year 12 level or its equivalent, as much of the course assumes a prior knowledge and understanding of Mathematics and Physics principles. (It is worth noting that many airlines require HSC Mathematics, Physics and English as minimum qualifications to apply for employment)
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have completed a CASA Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, Multi-engine Command Instrument Rating or a Night VFR Rating are granted Advanced standing for to the ATPL course. Advanced standing will also be given for CASA exams completed. The Chief Flying Instructor will require a flight evaluation to establish current flying competence.
