Direct application

There are various ways you can apply to study at Avondale depending on the type of course you are applying for and your education background. To make the process as easy as possible, select the applicant type below that best applies to you:
  1. I am an applicant who has completed previous higher education study.
    • This means your highest level of study since leaving secondary school is in a higher education course, either recently or some time ago, even if you did not complete the course.
    • Some courses have additional entry requirements and these are identified in the course specific admission requirement information. To view this information, select the course of your choice and read the ADMISSION CRITERIA.
    • Where you previously completed a minimum of two degree level units and are able to demonstrate that you have the capacity to succeed at higher education study (at AQF level 7) by having made satisfactory course progression, you meet Avondale’s minimum entry requirement.
    • Completed bridging or enabling course: Avondale does not offer bridging or enabling courses for entry into its degree courses but will consider applications who have completed accredited courses completed at other institutions

  2. I am an applicant who has completed some vocational education and training (VET) study.
    • This means your highest level of study enrolment since leaving secondary education is a VET course at a public TAFE or other VET provider.
    • Some courses have additional entry requirements and these are identified in the course specific admission requirement information. To view this information, select the course of your choice and read the ADMISSION CRITERIA.
    • You may gain entry into all Avondale undergraduate courses, except for the Bachelor of Nursing, with the completion of any Certificate IV (AQF level 4). Entry into the Bachelor of Nursing is possible on completion of some Cert IV qualifications.
    • You may gain entry into all Avondale undergraduate courses, except for the Bachelor of Nursing, with the completion of a Certificate III (AQF level 3) in an equivalent cognate area.

  3. I am an applicant with work and life experience.
    • This means you left secondary education more than two years ago and have not undertaken higher education or VET study since then.
    • Your work and/or life experience may have provided you with sufficient preparation for higher education.
    • To provide evidence of your capacity to succeed at higher education study (at AQF level 7) you will be asked to complete the uniTEST and Tertiary Online Writing Assessment (TOWA) tests. This option is not available to international applicants as they are expected to have met the admission criteria identified for entry in the Admission to Higher Education Undergraduate Courses policy.
    • Some courses have additional entry requirements and these are identified in the course specific admission requirement information. To view this information, select the course of your choice and read the ADMISSION CRITERIA.

  4. I am an applicant who has recently completed secondary education.
    • This means you will complete secondary schooling in the current year or have completed it within the past two years.
    • Some courses have additional entry requirements and these are identified in the course specific admission requirement information. To view this information, select the course of your choice and read the ADMISSION CRITERIA.
    • For Australian applicants, your admission into the course of your choice at Avondale will be assessed on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score (or equivalent Overall Position (OP) in Queensland) you obtained. The minimum ATAR/OP required for entry into a course can be found in the course specific information by selecting the course of your choice and read the ADMISSION CRITERIA.
    • For New Zealand applicants, admission into the course of your choice will be assessed on you having successfully completed year 13 NCEA Level 3 with university entrance.
    • For applicants who completed secondary schooling in countries other than Australia and New Zealand, your application will be assessed if you meet the minimum admission criteria outlined for the country in which studied as listed in the Admission to Higher Education Undergraduate Courses policy and the relevant English proficiency requirements.
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Avondale will consider applications from school leavers who completed the IB Diploma with a minimum result of 24 points.
