Avondale College Media Centre

The Avondale College Media Centre serves as the focus of activity in audio and video production for the College and its students. Located adjacent to the College Audio-Visual Department in the lower level of the library, the media complex is comprised of a control room and studio for radio and video program production, a small self-operating studio for radio program mixing, a seven station video production editing suite and a five-station audio editing suite.

The control room and smaller, radio production studio are both fully digital and contain the latest digital technology equipment including CD players, mini-disc recorders, and digital mixing consoles. The video editing suite utilises the editing software Final Cut Pro on Apple G4 computers. The audio editing suite utilizes Cool Edit Pro software on the five PCs.

In this modern media centre, Avondale students are trained in use of equipment to produce radio and television programs. The Centre employs several students each year to assist with the continuing production of radio programs for Adventist World Radio and local radio stations. Videos produced in the Centre have been utilised both on campus and abroad and demonstrate an ever improving talent for this type of production.

Avondale students have the advantage of not only learning how to use the latest technology for communication but the theoretical fibre needed to make audio and video productions of quality and meaning for the intended audience.
