Commonwealth Supported Students:HECS-HELP
If you are allocated a Commonwealth supported place (HECS-HELP) you will pay a student contribution amount for your tuition. Avondale College has Commonwealth Supported Places in undergraduate teacher education and nursing courses only. If you apply to enrol in an undergraduate teacher education or nursing degree but are not allocated a Commonwealth Supported Place you will be offered a regular fee-paying place.
If you are eligible, HECS-HELP assistance helps you pay your student contribution amount.
There are two forms of HECS-HELP assistance:
HECS-HELP loan. This is a loan from the Australian Government for all or part of your student contribution amount. Repayment can be deferred until you join the workforce and earn in excess of $43,150 (this threshold figure is indexed annually and the amount quoted is current for 2009-2010). Voluntary repayments above the amount required in any tax year attract a 10% discount.
HECS-HELP discount. If you pay all, or at least $500, of your student contribution amount up front, you will receive a 20% discount on the amount you pay
Student contribution amounts are set by the Australian Government. Some units in teacher education and nursing courses are charged in other bands according to criteria set by the Government.
HECS-HELP does not cover bridging courses, services and facility charges or accommodation and meals.
Service and Facility Fees
Proceeds from these fees cover the costs of all non-tuition related services and facilities provided to students on either campus. This is an optional fee when students decide to use the services and facilities. This fee may be reviewed subject to pending Australian Government legislation.
