Fee-Help Assistance
For Australian citizens not awarded a Commonwealth supported place (i.e. full fee paying) this information applies to you:
- if you apply for enrolment in a teacher education or nursing course from 2005 but are not offered a Commonwealth supported place
- if you are a student in one of our other degree programs from 2005 if you are student in Diploma of General Studies (Foundation Studies) from 2005
You are able to apply for assistance with payment of tuition fees through a new Commonwealth loans program called FEE-HELP. In brief the scheme enables both undergraduate and postgraduate students from Australia who are not offered or are not eligible for a Commonwealth supported place to defer payment of tuition fees until study is completed. Deductions are then made from your salary through the taxation system after you earn more than the specified minimum salary threshold. As a guide, the minimum salary threshold for the 2007-2008 financial year is $39,825. At this point 4% is deducted from your salary towards payment of your HELP debt.
FEE-HELP is not available for students in our certificate programs or Diploma of Aviation courses. Other loan programs referred to below are available to students in these courses.
