New Zealand Students Fees 2010


The financial information below is for New Zealand residents who take undergraduate degrees or graduate-entry courses at Avondale in 2010.

Courses other than nursing, are located on the Lake Macquarie Campus.

Nursing students have the choice of studying their first semester on the Lake Macquarie Campus or the Sydney Campus. All nursing students will study on the Sydney Campus from second semester of their first year.


Please note all pricing is quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD) and is inclusive of GST.







Lake Macquarie Campus


Tuition Fees



Total tuition amounts are only indicative and refer to a standard full study load or 4 units (24 credit points). Pricing for individual units (subjects) will vary.


Regular Fee Paying Students



New Zealand students who are not eligible and not allocated a Commonwealth Supported Place are considered to be Regular Fee Paying Students.

*Standard Load per semester is calculated based on 4 units (24 credit points).

Tuition fees may vary depending on the units in which you are enrolled.
Non-Standard units that include travel costs such as study tours, professional development placements, practicum teaching components and music performances are charged at a higher cost.

FEE-HELP



If you are a New Zealand Citizen you are not entitled to recieve FEE-HELP. See FEE-HELP Assistance for more information or www.goingtouni.gov.au.


Commonwealth Supported Students: HECS-HELP



If you are allocated a Commonwealth supported (HECS-HELP) place, you will pay a student contribution for your tuition. Avondale College has Commonwealth Supported Places in the undergraduate teacher education and Nursing courses only. If you apply to enrol in an undergraduate education or nursing degree but are not allocated a Commonwealth Supported Place, you will be offered a regular fee-paying place.

If you are allocated a Commonwealth Supported place and are a New Zealand citizen, legislation requires you to pay your student contribution upfront to Avondale College by the relevant census date for your course.
If payment is not received by the census date your Commonwealth Supported Place (HECS-HELP) will be revoked and you will be given a Regular Fee Paying place.
New Zealand students DO NOT receive any up front discount on their student contribution payments.


Student contribution amounts are set by the Australian Government. Some units in teacher education and nursing courses are charged in other bands according to criteria set by the Government.


HECS-HELP does not cover briding courses, services and facility charges or accommodation and meals.

Service and Facility Fees



Proceeds from these fees cover the costs of all non-tuition related services and facilities provided to students on either campus. This is an optional fee when students decide to use the services and facilities.
This fee may be reviewed subject to pending Australian Government legislation.

Accommodation and Meals Fees: Residence Halls



Accommodation for the Lake Macquarie Campus Residence Halls is available upon application.

*Pricing is for the semester period only. Students wishing to stay over mid-semester or year-end breaks will be charged an additional rate per night which does not include meals.


At the beginning of each semester, students in the residence halls pay a room bond of $500. It is credited in full when you leave at the end of each year unless there are charges for cleaning, damage or you don't return the key.

The above pricing includes a single room in the residence halls, 3 meals per day Monday to Saturday and 2 Meals Sundays.

Rooms are only allocated upon receipt of a signed application and payment of the room bond.

*Avondale reserves the right to change the above clause and fees without notice.

Fee Payment Options



Tuition Statements of Accounts (SOA) will be available through Student Connect once enrolment is complete.

At least 50% of fees need to be paid upfront and the balance in 3 monthly instalments.

Payments may be made online or by bank cheque, BPay, Visa, MasterCard, money order, personal cheque or cash. EFTPOS facilities are available on campus. Personal daily withdrawal limits apply. Secure online payments can be made from a link on the front page of this web site. An ATM is available on campus for students' personal use.

Text Books


Textbooks are available from the Avondale Book Shop. The average cost for textbooks may vary from $400 AUD to $600 AUD per semester.

Course Specific Costs



Students in some courses may incur additional costs for course materials (e.g. teaching aid materials for BEd students, lab fees as well as art and photography supplies for Visual Arts students, coaching charges for PE students) etc. Course Coordinators are able to advise on these details for specific courses.






Sydney Campus


The nursing course is the only course offered on the Sydney Campus. For all other courses, please refer to the Lake Macquarie Campus.

Bachelor of Nursing students have the choice of studying their first semester on the Lake Macquarie Campus or the Sydney Campus. In general, unmarried international students are encouraged to commence their studies on the Lake Macquarie campus which offers a broader range of integrated campus activities. All students will study on the Sydney Campus from second semester of their first year.

While tuition costs are the same on both campuses, on campus accommodation costs vary.

Meals



Meal costs on the Sydney Campus are approximate. All meals are available on a pay as you eat basis from the Sydney Adventist Hospital Cafeteria.
