Avondale Library is committed to developing education and training programs to equip students and staff with the skills for lifelong learning.
The
Australian and New Zealand Information Literacy Framework: Principles; Standards and Practice identifies six core standards in the process of acquiring, understanding and applying information literacy skills.
The six core standards are:
recognising the need for information and determining the nature and extent of the information needed
finding the needed information effectively and efficiently
critically evaluating information and the information seeking process
managing the information collected or generated
applying prior and new information to construct new concepts or create new understandings
using the information with understanding and acknowledging cultural, ethical, economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information
Based on these principles, Avondale Library offers:
