Yancey to return to Avondale

22 June 2007

Best-selling Christian author Philip Yancey is returning to Avondale College.Philip Yancey

The Seventh-day Adventist church on the Lake Macquarie campus will host "An evening with Philip Yancey" in the Chan Shun Auditorium on Friday, September 7, at 7.30 pm, at which Yancey speak on the topic of prayer--the theme of his latest book. The program will also feature Christian drama group Saltmine from England, as well as Yancey in interview--he will also be available for book signings.

"This is a major event for our church and the college," says senior minister Dr Bruce Manners. "And one of the big advantages we have is our partnership with Koorong. They've organised an Australian-wide tour and promotion, including the college as the only site for the Hunter."

Because the program is on a Friday, entry will be only by ticket. Costs are $30 for adults and $10 for students. An arrangement with the Adventist Book Centre (ABC) in Cooranbong means Yancey's books will be available (charges will be processed after sunset on Saturday).

Tickets for "An evening with Philip Yancey" are available at the ABC (abc@nnswabc.com, 02 4977 2444), Koorong bookstores and the church office (collegechurch@avondale.edu.au, 02 4980 2272) and, for students, either at the office or at student services (College Hall, kathy.readford@avondale.edu.au, 02 4980 2148).
