Avondale College has merged admissions, the enquiry centre and marketing services into one location that will allow staff members "to follow an initial enquiry from a prospective student to the point of enrolment," says director of advancement Lorin Bradford.
The new Enquiry and Enrolment Centre, located in the Ellen G White Memorial Building, has combined staff members from different areas to give better service for students. "Any application issues can now be dealt with at one point, and we can also maintain quality control of information going out to students," says Lorin, adding the newly renovated building--from a new television screen showing the Avondale experience, to the layout, with thanks to special projects officer Neville Chester--is designed to be accommodating and positive. "We want to give the best quality and experience to applicants," he says. "Effective communication is crucial."
The merging of the departments into a virtual team will also allow staff members to share peak workloads. "The staff involved have had to make significant adjustments to work environments and work processes and that points to their professionalism," says academic registrar Paul de Ville. "This move has presented an interchange of disparate information and processes under a single administrative structure."
Newly appointed team leader Sharon Turner says the centre will provide a synergy between staff members and students. "We're aiming to have more personal contact with students, to better value their needs and to give a greater overall customer service focus. All staff are now easily able to track prospective students under a new, more unified process that will be implemented from point of call."
President Dr John Cox says it is already evident the centre is functioning smoothly and more efficiently. "Enquiries can be followed up vigorously as we have a tighter process in place that will provide a one-stop-shop for students," he says. "It is much easier for information to be shared between personnel under a team leader who will give coherence."
