Avondale College icon and Former COSMOS President, Charles Pointon is continuing to effect the lives of local Cooranbong residents four months after passing away after a car struck him as he was crossing the street to the Cooranbong Shopping centre. Since his tragic death in November 2008, the local Cooranbong Pharmacy has reported selling 50 copies of his book, "A Friend in High Places". His death also sparked a petition for traffic lights at the Cooranbong shopping centre crossing. Wayne French, Avondale College Chaplain and friend of Charles personally took the petition to Mayor Greg Piper. The Cooranbong Gazzette reports that "the North Cooranbong VPA is likely to be amended to move forward the expected timing of the traffic lights". The estimated time for the traffic light placement is 12- 18 month closer than previously set.

Wayne said, "Charles was all about service in his life. It isn't surprising that even through his death he continues to serve the community".
