Avondale College student Nicole Hasan shows no fear as she donates blood for the first time to the Australian Red Cross Blood Service on April 6. "It's just 10 minutes of my day," says Nicole, who is completing a Bachelor of Teaching (primary) degree. Her blood will help patients with cancer or in surgery and victims of traumatic accidents or burns. She joined more than 40 others who registered to donate blood. A large number of students could not register: all appointments had been booked. The Red Cross's Mobile Donor Centre visits Avondale once each semester. It returns on September 2.
