Avondale to offer PhDs
23 March 2006

Avondale College has been granted authority by the New South Wales government to offer Doctor of Philosophy degrees in history, health, education and theology.
Avondale currently offers postgraduate studies up to Masters level in leadership and management, education, nursing and theology. Postgraduates make up 15 per cent of the student body.
Students who have completed a Masters degree or an honours degree may be admitted to candidature and applications may be accepted at any time of the year. Students may study full- or part-time, on-campus or by distance education. All the doctoral degrees will be research degrees and require the candidate to work with a supervisor. Full-time tuition cost for the doctoral program is $9600.
The approval of the PhD degree may further increase Avondale's record enrolment. Traditionally, increases in enrolment have corresponded with significant developments, such as receiving government accreditation for degrees in the 1970s and the introduction of FEE-HELP last year.
Avondale College's main campus--Lake Macquarie--is located in Cooranbong. Its Sydney campus is located at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, and its Hunter Valley campus at Cessnock Airport.
