Despite a dip in total enrolment, a record number of students are studying theology at Avondale College this semester. The faculty has increased enrolment by 15 per cent-the largest increase of any faculty-since semester two this past year. Some 162 students studied theology then; 191 are now. The number of theology undergraduates is now 142, up from 119 in second semester this past year. Postgraduates number 49. Total enrolment at Avondale in second semester this past year stood at 1294; it is now 1286, a decrease of less than one per cent. Data analyst Chris Thiele says a dip in second semester enrolment is a continuing trend, despite Avondale's strong growth. "The number of new students who enrol in semester two does not usually offset the number of students we loose through attrition, but our retention rates, particularly in education and nursing, are still pretty high."
