Adventist television subject of new study
24 December 2009
Researchers at Avondale College are surveying viewers of Hope Channel to discover the impact of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's television network in Australia and New Zealand.
While the researchers, with the support of Adventist Media Network, recently completed a mail out of surveys to registered Hope Channel viewers within Australia, they are now inviting other viewers to participate.
"Christian television is a powerful medium, but it's also an expensive one," says the lead researcher, associate professor Daniel Reynaud. "To make the most effective use of our resources, we need to study how to make the most effective use of our television programs."
The survey identifies who is watching church television, what programs they watch and the impact the programs have on their faith.
"This will help Hope Channel refine its effectiveness as a means of communicating the Adventist message to our community," adds Dr Reynaud.
Hope Channel viewers can download the survey at www.avondale.edu.au/hope. The survey can be returned via post to a New Zealand address for those filling it in there or a Freepost address in Australia.
