The Promise has signed a contract with a new music label, which will distribute and promote the Avondale College vocal ensemble's self-titled debut album.
The label, called Psalter, is a ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific's Adventist Media Network. As exclusive distributer of The Promise, Psalter will sell the album to consumers through its website and through online digital media stores, such as Apple's iTunes. Psalter will sell to retailers, too. It will also promote the album through mediums such as the church's magazine, Record, and the worldwide church's television network, Hope Channel.
The quality and quantity of The Promise's performances--the vocal ensemble performs at least 25 times a year--impressed Psalter. "The Promise has a unique sound," says Peter Dixon, owner of Avondale Music and a member of Psalter's Steering Committee--he manages artists and repertoire. "Its music is well arranged and expertly performed. It also performs regularly and appeals to a variety of people."
The director of The Promise, Dr Robb Dennis, says the contract will mean the vocal ensemble's product will consistently make it to the market. "We'll be better able to serve the people who appreciate our music," he says.
The contract will also help fund The Promise's ministry, which will soon include a second album. The album is currently in production.
Psalter wants to hear from other Adventist artists who have previously recorded a DVD or CD or who want to develop a project. Visit www.psaltermusic.com.
