Avondale College's Lake Macquarie campus has had a little nip and tuck.
The facelift includes the refurbishment of the chapel in men's residence Watson Hall. The chapel has been transformed into a new 200-seat lecture theatre, the largest on campus.
The cafeteria has also been refurbished--it is sporting new carpet, cash registers and flooring in the servery, and a new sound system is coming. The cafeteria building now also houses the college bookshop and a caf?.
The bookshop's move from the Turner building frees up the refurbished space for information technology services, which has moved from its cramped quarters in the White building. The marketing department is set to move from Bethel Hall and inhabit the free space in the White building along with the admissions team once modifications are complete. The move will create a one-stop Enquiries and Enrolment Centre for prospective students.
The Faculty of Arts is experiencing similar space related problems in the Music Hall. The increase in the number of students studying music is the catalyst for an extension into the English Language Centre. The building, also refurbished, now includes space for the Avondale College Brass Band and for harmony and music theory and computers in music classrooms.
Bark is now scattered around the area between College Church and the administration building. Box hedge edging and jasmine tri-colour ground cover are coming.
And grass now replaces car-parking bays in Palm Court, which has become a pedestrian walk, making the walk to class much safer and prettier for students.
