Research: Dr Heise is currently researching for a publication on the 28 fundamentals of Seventh-day Adventist belief, in the context of the worship leading and worship team mentoring done in Adventist churches by pastors and worship team leaders.

Previous supervision (2008) of an M.Ed Thesis researching the context, experience, and felt needs for training of worship team leaders in Adventist Churches in the North New South Wales Conference
About: Dr Heise is both Senior Lecturer, and Director of The Institute of Worship. The institute was established in 2004, is based at Avondale College, and serves the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific region. As director, Lyell consults with churches, schools, and regional leadership teams in the Adventist Church, offering training in worship planning and leadership for local churches, schools, and larger church events. He also directs the Institute of Worship Orchestra which is the ensemble supporting the popular Hymns and Songs of Praise.
Select Publications: Dr Heise is currently producing a publication on the 28 fundamentals of Seventh-day Adventist belief, in the context of the worship leading and worship team mentoring done in Adventist churches by pastors and worship team leaders.

The book and the research has the following components:
1. Adventist theology for preaching pastors and worship teams – a collaboration with colleague Wendy Jackson
2. 28 works of calligraphy art commissioned to world famous calligrapher Timothy Botts, Chicago. Each work is based on a key bible passage central to each fundamental belief
3. 28 researched grids exploring appropriate hymns and songs for use by worship planners to celebrate each belief. Grids researched and compiled from SDA Hymnal, Play Today Publications, and Song Select internet resource.
4. 28 pieces of creative writing in the readers theatre mode, offering an opportunity for worship teams to celebrate, explore, and illustrate each of the 28 fundamental beliefs
