Step 9 - OrientationOrientation is the official start to semester and includes a range of formal and informal events to welcome and orientate new and returning students to Avondale. It is a great way to meet new people, connect with Avondale staff and get involved in the Avondale community.
ORIENTATION: SEMESTER ONE 2020Held from Sunday 1 March 2020 to Saturday 7 March 2020, Avondale orientation delivers everything you need for a successful transition into university life.

SYDNEY CAMPUSOrientation for nursing students studying at our Sydney campus will commence at 9:45am on Monday 2 March in the Clinical Education Centre (CEC). Orientation includes:
- Introduction to the campus
- Site tour
- Arrangement of access cards
- Availability of textbooks for purchase
- Confirmation of final enrolment
Paid parking is available on campus by collecting a ticket when coming through the boom gates. While parking on hospital grounds will be covered during orientation, please prepare to pay $6 for parking on your first day.

LAKE MACQUARIE CAMPUS (LMC)Students attending orientation at our Lake Macquarie campus are advised to park in the main car park (P1). Turn left immediately after passing through the first boom gate and then take an immediate left again. You will see the main car park on your right.

LMC SESSIONSWelcome to the Academic Year... this is where it all begins. You'll hear from the Vice-Chancellor and President of Avondale, whom will officially welcome you as the newest members of our community, and provide some insight into what makes Avondale so unique.
Course and Strand Convenors... meet with your course and strand convenors to discuss important information about your course, units, timetable and professional placements (if applicable), ensuring you are planned and prepped for the year ahead.
Academic Support... we will introduce you to the many academic resources that will be available to you during your studies. You will learn where to find the library catalogue, databases, referencing guides, subject guides, eBooks and so much more.
AIM... a short introduction to Academic Integrity, a compulsory module that you are required to complete as a newly enrolled student.
Study Skills... a brief overview of time management, writing skills, note taking, study tools and more, to ensure you succeed at tertiary studies.
IT... our IT and technology specialists will introduce you to navigating IT at Avondale, focusing on how to use technology to make your life easier.
Thrive to Survive... this is where you will learn the essentials. You'll hear from our experts with their insights into managing your finances, health and well-being. We'll introduce you to our Chaplain and our counselling services, ensuring you have all the tools needed to thrive and survive in your university experience.
