Lake Macquarie Campus

O Week is held at Preston Place from Sunday 26 February to Friday 3 March. As a new student we encourage you to participate and attend O Week activities; a series of informative, exciting and fun-filled events to welcome you to Avondale. It’s a great way to meet new friends, get connected and get involved in the Avondale community.

O Week is open to all students whether studying by distance, on our Sydney campus or on Lake Macquarie campus.

If you have not already completed required payments and online enrolment, please allow around 2 hours to complete your Orientation. Save yourself time by completing these activities online prior to O week.

NOTE: Once you have parked your vehicle, follow the signs to Preston Place where you will be given your O Week information.

Residential Student Arrival

You can check into the residence halls on:

Residential accommodation is only available from Sunday 26 February.

Nursing Students

If you are a student who is returning after leave, please contact Reception 02 9480 3630 for information regarding your commencement dates and times.

If you are a student commencing your 2nd year due to advanced standing, please call 02 9480 9480 to check your commencement dates and times.

All Bachelor of Nursing students will be required to present the following compliance documentation to the clinical office representative at orientation:
  1. National Police Check
  2. Your record of vaccinations required for NSW Health nurses (bring evidence of progress if not already complete); including a completed TB Assessment form
  3. NSW Health Code of Conduct for Clinical Placement
  4. Senior First Aid or Apply First Aid Certificate
  5. Working With Children Check

Domestic students enrolled in Bachelor of Nursing units on the Lake Macquarie campus must present this documentation on Orientation Day to verify their compliance level with NSW Health requirements. International students will not be able to present some of this documentation on that day, however, you are expected to begin what you can of this process as a matter of priority.

Travel

Students travelling to the Lake Macquarie campus by train should disembark at Morisset Station on the Newcastle & Central Coast line. It is recommended you call Student Services (02 4980 2148) no later than 24 hours before you arrive to arrange transport by bus from the station at Avondale. Transport by taxi or public bus is also available. The Lake Macquarie campus is about 8kms from Morisset station.

Parking on Orientation Day

New students are advised to park in the main car park by turning left directly after passing through the boom gate and then an immediate left again. You will then see the main car park on your right.

O Week is held at Preston Place in the center of Lake Macquarie Campus from 1pm Sunday 26 February for a BBQ lunch and afternoon activities. As a new student we encourage you to participate and attend O Week activities as scheduled on your campus. It’s a great way to meet new friends, get connected and get involved in the Avondale community.

O Week is open to all students whether studying by distance, on our Sydney campus or on Lake Macquarie campus.

First year Bachelor of Nursing students studying on the Sydney campus must complete orientation on:

Monday 27 February 10.00am to 3.00pm Meet in foyer of the Clinical Education Centre

NOTE: Meet in the Clinical Education Centre located within the grounds of the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Orientation commences at 9.45am for everyone and can take approximately 2-3 hours.

You will be required to present the following compliance documentation to the clinical office representative at orientation:

Parking on Orientation Day

Students are advised to enter through Gate 2 and park according to map.

You will need to pay for parking. Parking fees for orientation day will be up to $15 for the day. Alternatively, you may wish to find a car park at no cost on Fox Valley Road, but availability is limited. Parking arrangements for the semester will be discussed at orientation.

Distance Education


If you are studying by distance education in an undergraduate course, you will NOT need to attend Orientation. Please ensure that you have logged into Student Connect and confirmed your units of study as this is your official enrolment. For units of study please contact your Course Convenor as outlined on the web. If you are not sure who your Course Convenor is, contact Admissions on 1800 991 392.

While you are not required to attend orientation, O Week is open to all students of Avondale College including Post Graduate students and Distance Education Students. Learn more about O Week
