ACHPER Tertiary Student Health and Physical Education Prize


Twelve months membership of ACHPER (Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation) is provided to an eligible graduating student based on academic excellence as well as professional interest and aptitude demonstrated by the student.

Alan & Yvonne Thrift Perpetual Shield for Musical Excellence


A shield and $500 is awarded to a student in the third or higher year of a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business, or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching degree, with a major in music. The shield is awarded on the basis of ensemble performance and involvement and leadership in the musical activities of Avondale College of Higher Education, in addition to good academic grades in music units undertaken.


Art Acquisition for the Avondale College of Higher Education Art Collection


Avondale College of Higher Education annually purchases one work of art to the value of $500 by a graduating Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching student, which is added to the Avondale College of Higher Education Art Collection.


Arthur Ferch Prize for Hebrew Studies


Sponsored by the Carole Ferch-Johnson family, awarded to a second year Theology student who scores highest in first semester Hebrew and second semester Old Testament studies where Hebrew is applied, worth $1,000.


Australian Indigenous Student Teaching Prize


A prize of $1,000 will be awarded to encourage an indigenous student to become a great christian teacher.


Avondale Alumni Association Community Service Prize


Worth $1000 in cash and awarded to one or more students who give outstanding voluntary service to the community while enrolled at Avondale College of Higher Education. Click here for more information.

Awarded to a graduating Bachelor of Arts student in recognition of outstanding academic performance and good citizenship. Worth $1000 and sponsored by Willobee Floor Service.

Bachelor of Business Excellence Prize


A prize of $1,000 sponsored by Williams Premium Wholesale.


Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) Prize for Excellence


A prize of $1000 sponsored by the South Pacific Division of Seventh-day Adventists may be granted each year to a graduating Early Childhood Education student who has demonstrated outstanding teaching ability, professionalism and good citizenship.


Bachelor of Education (Primary) Prize for Excellence


A prize of $1000 sponsored by the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference, given to an outstanding primary education graduand.


Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Prize for Excellence


A prize of $1000 sponsored by the Australian Union Conference, given to an outstanding secondary education graduand.


Bachelor of Science Prize


A prize for excellence worth $600.


Bill Marr Institute of Public Evangelism Prize


A prize of $1,000 to a Theology student who shows promise in public outreach. Sponsored by the South Pacific Division.


Clifford Anderson Prize

Edna Ferris Heise Prize for Excellence in Communication


A prize of $1000, sponsored by the The Edna Ferris Heise Memorial Trust Fund, is given to a female theology student in the second half of her course who demonstrates excellence in written and/or verbal communication, interpersonal skills and service activities. The prize is in honour of the life and work of Edna Ferris Heise in memory of her outstanding contribution to preaching, writing and speaking, and her passion for the ministry of gospel communication.


Elwin Currow Prize for New Testament Apocalyptic


A prize of $100 awarded to the top ranking student in New Testament Apocalyptic studies.


Gail Valentine Memorial Prize for Human Resource Management Excellence in the Management Major of the Bachelor of Business


Valued at $500, this book prize is sponsored by the Gail Valentine Memorial Association.


Graham Miller Memorial Prize for Excellence in Youth Ministry


A prize of $1,000 to a Theology student who shows particular aptitude for youth ministry sponsored by the South Pacific Division.


Huguenot History Prize


A prize of $1000 awarded to a student with a history minor or major, in recognition of outstanding scholarship in History. The prize is sponsored by Dr Allen & Mrs Andrea Steele, and from royalties of the book The French Pilot.


Mental Health Nursing Excellence Prize


A certificate and prize of $100 awarded to the Bachelor of Nursing graduate with the highest academic and clinical performance for mental health nursing.


Overseas Volunteer Service Prize


Sponsored by Marion & Cyril Youlden & Anna Rieger, half paid in cash and half paid off tuition worth $500. To qualify students must have been a volunteer through the South Pacific Division Volunteer Program.


Primary Teacher's Literacy Prize


Twelve months membership of e:lit is provided to the top graduating teaching student in Primary English, to acknowledge excellence in pre-service study and to support the recipient in their first year of teaching.


Prize for Consistent Effort and Accomplishment (Nursing)


A certificate and prize of $100 is awarded to a student who demonstrates clinical competence, commitment to Avondale College of Higher Education values, and professional and personal achievement throughout the Bachelor of Nursing course OR who has completed the course within the constraints of an identifiable disadvantage.


Prize in Radio Production and Public Relations


A prize of $1000 sponsored by Adventist World Radio (AWR) in honour of Allen and Andrea Steele. The prize is given in recognition of academic achievement, vision and passion for the innovative use of communication in church mission, and contribution to public relations initiatives.


Sanitarium Prizes for Excellence


Three prizes of $1,500 each are awarded to one male student and one female student on the Lake Macquarie campus, and one student from the Sydney campus.


Sydney Adventist Hospital Academic Excellence Prize


A certificate and prize of $250 and a gold medallion is awarded to the student graduating with the highest GPA over the three years of the Bachelor of Nursing course.


Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical Excellence Prize


A certificate and prize of $250 and a gold medallion is awarded to the student graduating with the highest clinical performance profile aggregate gained over the three years of the Bachelor of Nursing course.


Sydney Adventist Hospital Medical Nursing Excellence Prize


A certificate and prize of $100 awarded to the Bachelor of Nursing graduate with the highest academic and clinical performance for medical nursing in seven selected units.


Sydney Adventist Hospital Surgical Nursing Excellence Prize


A certificate and prize of $100 awarded to the Bachelor of Nursing graduate with the highest academic and clinical performance for surgical nursing in seven selected units.


WA Townend Christian Journalism Prize


Valued at $500, this prize is awarded to an Avondale student with a publication record of writings with a christian focus.
