Undergraduate Admission

Whether you are a Year 12 student, a non-school leaver, or want to further your studies, there are many ways to gain admission into your chosen course at Avondale University (Avondale).

To determine your eligibility for entry, select the following option that applies to you.

I am a current high school student or recent school leaver

If you finished Year 12 within the last two years, or you are a current Year 12 student completing the Higher School Certificate (or interstate/New Zealand equivalent), you can apply for Avondale courses using your:

  • Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Year 13 NCEA Level 3 results, identifying university entrance attainment.

Selection Rank

A selection rank is your ATAR plus any adjustment factors you are eligible to receive.

Adjustment Factors

info Your offer is provisional if you meet the required selection rank for your preferred undergraduate degree. Provisional means you have been accepted into the course with an academic status of probation because you did not meet the minimum entry requirements, but we determined that academic success is possible.

No ATAR?

Several pathways are available if you completed Year 12 within the last two years but do not have an ATAR or did not achieve the results required for your chosen course. You don't need to rely just on your ATAR to get into Avondale!

ADMISSION PATHWAYS

I am a non-school leaver

Avondale provides various pathways to our undergraduate degrees. Our pathways include options for those who have studied at TAFE, finished Year 12, studied at another university, or completed one of our Undergraduate Certificates, which are an introduction to university study. Following are the pathways available to non-school leavers.

ATAR

There is no expiry on your ATAR – it is valid at Avondale until you have attempted more than one semester of higher education (e.g., bachelor-level study).

Previous Higher Education Study

You could apply to study at Avondale if you completed at least two subjects/units at an accredited Australian university or higher education provider.

TAFE/Vocational Education and Training (VET) Study

If you decide to come to university after completing a TAFE/VET qualification, a Certificate IV or higher qualifies you for entry into any Avondale degree. Even if you did not finish high school (Year 12), your TAFE/VET qualification may allow you to enter university.

uniTEST and TOWA

If you do not have an ATAR or adequate formal qualifications, an appropriate score in the uniTEST and TOWA entrance exams may give you entry into an Avondale degree or undergraduate certificate.

ADMISSION PATHWAYS

I have Overseas Qualifications

We assess overseas qualifications per Appendix 1 of Avondale's Admission to Higher Education Undergraduate Courses Policy. If you have qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. Please refer to Appendix 2 of the admissions policy.
