Sydney has a borderline subtropical climate like much of central and northern New South Wales. Summers tend to be warm and winters are generally mild. The average temperature in summer is 19 to 26oC and in winter is 9 to 16oC. Rainfall is heaviest in late autumn and early winter.

Wahroonga Shopping Village Located one kilometre from campus is Wahroonga Shopping Village, a small complex with a green grocer, cafes, hairdresser, newsagency, medical services and novelty stores.
Large shopping outletsWestfield Hornsby The Westfield Hornsby Shopping Centre is located 10 minutes north of the Lake Macquarie campus. It offers a wide range of fashion stores, dining experiences, homewares, general retail stores and a cinema complex. It also offers all major grocery stores to cater to all your food needs.
Buses run daily from the Sydney Adventist Hospital to Hornsby. Current routes and timetables are available from the Shorelink website or by calling 131 500.
Eating out
There are many local fast food options available close to campus in Wahroonga and Hornsby such as McDonalds, KFC, Dominos Pizza, etc. If you are after a restaurant meal, Westfield Hornsby's Piazza offers a range of options such as Absolute Thai, Amraj Indian Restaurant, Asago, Toscani's Bar and Restaurant and a wide variety of cafes.
Wahroonga's Railway Avenue also offers a variety of specialty deli's and cafes. Only 22 kilometres from campus is Sydney's central business district, where you will be spoilt for choice at the wide selection of food and shopping options.
There is an extensive range of leisure and entertainment options in Sydney to keep you busy. Whether you like beaches, shopping, live music, fine dining, art galleries and museums, walking trails, there is something for everyone in Sydney.
Students conveniently have access to a range of health services at the Sydney Adventist Hospital and the Fox Valley Medical and Dental Centre. Other nearby health services include general medical and specialist practitioners, dental services, optometrists, chiropractors and physiotherapists.
The closest public hospital to campus is the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. The Sydney Adventist Hospital also offers urgent emergency treatment to private patients.
Childcare and Schools
A wide range of reputable childcare centres and schools are located close to the Sydney campus.
