Studying teaching at Avondale will equip you with the practical experience and skills needed to teach in Christian, independent and state early childhood, primary and high school systems, both within Australia and overseas.


Degrees Offered

Undergraduate

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (Birth – 12 years)

Course duration: Four years full-time (or part-time equivalent)
Study mode: On-campus with distance education available for students who are currently employed in an early childhood education and care or school setting

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (Primary)

Course duration: Four years full-time (or part-time equivalent)
Study mode: On-campus with distance education available for some units

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary)

Course duration: Four years full-time (or part-time equivalent)
Study mode: On-campus with distance education available for some units

Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching

Course duration: Four years full-time (or part-time equivalent)
Study mode: On-campus, cross-institutional distance education required for some units

Postgraduate

Master of Education (MEd)

Course duration: One year full-time (or part-time equivalent)*
Study mode: On-campus and distance education

*Units are offered in one-year teaching periods and full-time enrolment is normally not possible due to unit availability.

Master of Teaching (Primary) (MTch(Prim))

Course duration: Two years full-time (or part-time equivalent)
Study mode: On-campus or distance education

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Course duration: Three to four years full-time (or 6 years part-time)
