Machines capable of producing hard copies

This copyright notice is to be placed at or as near as possible to copying machines including:
  • photocopiers
  • computers
  • scanners
  • fax machines.

The law requires that the notice be A4 in size (297mm by 210 mm) and on white paper.
Displaying the notice at copying machines provides legal protection if a client breaches the Act in using the machine.
Notice 1

Machines capable of producing audiovisual material

This notice should be attached to machines such as:
  • CD and DVD burners
  • DVD players
  • CD players
  • computers
  • other machines able to copy audiovisual content.

The law requires that the notice be A4 in size (297mm by 210mm)and on white paper.
Notice 2

Important: Some machines will need both notices

Some machines, such as computers, are capable of producing both hard copies and audio visual material. In this case both Notice 1 and Notice 2 should be placed on or as near as possible to the machine.

Copies Made from Radio and Television (Screenrights licence)

All copies made under the Screenrights Licence need to have a notice attached to them.

Course Reading Pack Notices

Reproductions of works must fall within the limits allowed under the Part VB Licencing scheme.
These limits require record keeping and a search to ensure that no other parts of the same work are currently available online within the institution.
All works within the Course pack must be correctly attributed according to the Moral Rights provisions of the Act.
Where limits are exceeded details of the permission given must be included
If an included work is out of copyright this should also be indicated.
Course Reading Pack Notice

Course Packs in Electronic form eg on a CD-ROM

Reproductions of works must fall within the limits allowed under the Part VB Licencing scheme. This includes the institution wide limits associated with an electronic communication.
The CD also needs to be configured so that the copyright warning notice for electronic copying and communication is viewed before access is granted to the work.
