Research:Brenton has an interest in: gender and religion, presenting a paper called “A sexual interpretation of the Song of Songs” at the New Perspectives on Christianity Conference at Avondale College in January 2009; and in curating creative arts—he is co-convenor of Manifest, a movement exploring, encouraging and celebrating #faithfulcreativity.
About:Brenton is Avondale University College’s Public Relations Officer, a position he has held since 2005. He brings to the role a decade’s experience as a communicator in publishing, media relations, public relations, radio and television, mostly within the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific and its entities. Before joining Avondale, Brenton served as an Assistant Editor at Signs Publishing, working predominately as news editor for the church’s weekly magazine, Adventist Record. He then joined the church’s Communication and Public Relations Department as News Correspondent. Brenton is passionate about journalism and about radio, serving for 10 years as a producer and a presenter for Christian community stations. He currently coordinates giving, edits TK, an online magazine of news, reviews and perspectives produced by Avondale, Signs and Manifest, and manages vocal ensemble The Promise.
